Monday Morning Devo - The Return

The sun also rises, and the sun goes down, And hastens to the place where it arose. The wind goes toward the south, And turns around to the north; The wind whirls about continually, And comes again on its circuit. All the rivers run into the sea,
Yet the sea is not full; To the place from which the rivers come, There they return again. Ecclesiastes 1:7, NKJV.

In Guideposts a couple of days ago there was a post that especially touched me. The writer talked about how he had gotten off God's path a few times, but the Lord was able to bring him back to where he belonged. It struck me that I have done the same thing. For so long I neglected God--even ignored Him--to go my own way.

And yet--here I am, back following Him. Not as well as I should, but I'm trying to a bunch harder than I used to!

The man who wrote the devotional in Guideposts, Scott Walker, said, "God is not limited by our poor navigation or circumstance. He is faithful in enabling our personal river to flow to the sea." (The sea representing our God-oriented destination.)

That is of great comfort to me. No matter how badly I've messed up, God is able to bring me back.

Thank You, Lord. I needed to know that. Amen.

So true...always; and no matter how bull headed we might be in following our own way HE never leaves us....the ocean doesn't move. HE's always right where HE's always been and when we step back into the path HE has set before us it's like we never left it. HE is in a constant state of forgiveness towards us. If only we could be like that towards others. Even when I wandered off on a side track, I always knew HE was close by; I could call on HIM and HE would answer...the perfect Father. How much better for us if we stay on the right path, but sometimes we need the wrong path to learn how much better the right path is. As humans, we often need our own going astray to know how much we should stay where HE leads and HE knows that, so HE is patient, waiting for us to learn what we need to learn and return to the path we strayed from. How we try HIS patience and how HE loves through it all. What joy it is...to know HIS love and to be able to trust HIM no matter how foolish we are. Thank you, Father.
