Monday Morning Devo - A Little Late

Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep—So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man. Proverbs 6:6-11, NKJV.

I was feeling a little sluggish this morning, not getting things done like I should. It used to be I'd be up before 5 am and showered and dressed to leave for work by 6:30. No one accused me of being a sluggard. I was a hard-workin' woman, bringin' home the bacon. A workaholic, even.

Now it's sometimes 6:30 before I even get up. Bacon? not even on my to-do list.

I've gotten lazy. I don't even do a to-do list.

Oops.

So? I'm retired, sorta. No 8-5 job anymore, anyway. I have a tiny income, retirement pay too, so I won't starve. Why get up early and work late? No kids or hubby to get meals for, no cat waking me up for breakfast, no dog wanting a walk that early. Well, I do have a dog and a cat, but they're getting as lazy as I am.

However, there are still things that need doing. There's that record of a meeting to finish, the directory I volunteered to do for our church, the sequel to the most recent book to finish ....

Not to mention the Monday Morning Devo which is going to maybe get out by 2 pm. I need a get a little quirt and give my haunches a flick when I stop to play a computer game.

Giddiyup, me!

Father, I need to get busy, but I procrastinate. I don't mean to, but that lazy bone of mine just keeps lying down on the job. Help me, Lord, lest I become a bum! In Jesus's name, Amen
