Saturday Sermonette - The Road to Golgotha: Thoughts
And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.” Mark 7:20-23, NKJV.
I doubt that anyone, man or woman or child, ever totally eradicates all evil thoughts--but anyone can avoid entertaining those thoughts.
Probably the shortest sermon I've ever written, possibly the most potent.
Father, please--help us with those thoughts that creep to the forefront. Help us obliterate them with whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—we want to meditate on these things. Amen.
