Monday Morning Devo--The Kingdom of Heaven is Like... (Part 4)

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Matthew 13:44, NKJV

Hidden treasure--who doesn't like to find hidden treasure? If you find a penny, even, don't you pick it up? I do--well, sometimes I do. But a nickle or a dime, that's sure.

I remember one time my daughter found a $20 bill in a trash bin at a weight station/rest stop. She'd gone to put something in the bin, saw the green bill sitting right on top, and brought it to me. I told her we'd need to check with the guy inside to see if anyone had reported the loss. No one had, so our little girl, now feeling really rich, was able to keep it.

Some folks don't value God or going to heaven. God and eternal life mean nothing to them. As they don't understand my enthusiasm for God and being with Him eternally in the perfect place (not too hot, too cold, ugly, or threatening), I don't understand not caring. Why would anyone not want to call Jesus "Friend and Brother and Lord?" Why would anyone choose not to live eternally in the most beautiful place imaginable?

One small hidden treasure--ours for the choice. "Whosoever believes will be saved."

Lord, please open our eyes to the beauty and value of this hidden treasure. Thank You.
