First Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.
Let me put this into a little more modern English for those who don't jive on King James English.
This is in my own words, and I'm not a translator, so try it against your own knowledge or favorite version.
"Love is patient and kind, is not jealous of those who have a talent or possession it does not have; Love doesn't brag about itself, is not bigheaded."
This chapter is the description of God's unconditional love for us and pride in us when we get it right. It's also a description of the type of love we should have for those around us.
This type of love is not a feeling, but rather an act. When you do something for someone you don't know or even like, that is demonstrating this Godly love. If someone does something nice for us, we can give thanks to God for showing that someone how to love.
Prayer: Lord, please help us to be patient and kind, not envious. Help us to take more pride in others than in ourselves. Show us how to love. Thank You, precious Lord.
