First Corinthians 13:1: "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal."
This chapter in the New Testament has been labeled "The Love Chapter" because it gives such excellent advice about what love is. This first verse reminds us that even if we can speak in many languages, bragging about it places you right up there with "sounding brass or tinkling cymbals." A noisemaker without musical ability.
We are encouraged to love without thinking our gifts and talents are any better than those of our friends or our family. We should use our gifts to bless others, not stand around waving them for all to see. Give your time, your resources, and your self with love and understanding, never with bragadocio or pride.
Prayer: Lord, teach us please what our talents are and how and when to use them. Fill us with love for those You love and want to touch with healing or salvation. Lead us where we can help, please, for Your sake. Thank You, Lord.
