Anne: Today's interview is with the author (Lynnette Bonner) of the book I reviewed on yesterday's blog, Spring Meadow Sanctuary. So, Lynnette, we always have to know: what inspired the book?
Anne: Do any of the personalities of the characters resemble yours? How?
Lynnette: I think Sharyah resembles me a little bit in that we both refuse to let ourselves give in to “the vapors.” My father, like Sharyah’s, didn’t have any use for a woman who couldn’t keep her head in a stressful situation. He taught me to just push through the emotions and get the needed and necessary things done without getting all up in a tizzy. It’s been a very useful characteristic over the years.

Anne: Did you choose real geography or make some of it up?
Lynnette: This book has real geography – I spent several of my growing up years just a few miles from where this story is set.

Anne: How did you do your research for the time period?
Lynnette: Well, this being the fourth book, I’ve done quite a bit of research of the period for the other books. I’ve used the internet a little, some writing groups I belong to a little, and some history books, too.

Anne: One night I stopped reading just as the heroine got the threatening note. Nice touch! I puzzled over that while I should have been going to sleep--who sent it? It couldn't have been the villainess; she was out on a ranch. It couldn't be the main villain--he didn't know. It might have been the sheriff--maybe he was in cahoots. Hmm. How long did you work on that twist?
Lynnette: LOL. I’m a seat-of-the-pants writer and sometimes I lay awake at night puzzling over these twists, too! I love that about writing, it’s like I’m reading the story as I’m writing it and I just never know where it’s going to lead me. It took me a bit to figure out how that fit into the story, but eventually the details all fell into place.

Anne: What was the most difficult part to pull together? The easiest?
Lynnette: I always have trouble with the endings – making sure I tie up all the details without belaboring the point too much. The easiest for me are the romance scenes. I just love writing those. And this book especially because I’ve been anticipating Sharyah and Cade’s romance since Book 1!

Anne: Can you give us a teaser about your next book?
She’s been living a lie that could just get her killed…
Widowed former Hollywood actress Devynne Lang has been living a quiet life in the San Juan Islands of the Pacific Northwest. For years, she's hoped her fabricated death would keep her identity safe from the public, and more to the point, from the stalker who forced her into hiding. But strange things have been happening around her place and this time, with a daughter to protect, she can’t afford one mistake – even if it means letting Carson Lang help.
Carson would do anything to protect his brother’s widow and her daughter. So when he discovers Devynne may be in danger, he vows to find the man responsible.
The problem is, the danger just might be closer than they think – even as close as their hearts.
Anne: Wow, Lynnette, that sounds great. Thanks for taking the time to be with us today. If any of you readers have a question for Lynnette, please comment below. Her books are all available on Amazon.
