Psalms 23:4a - "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, You are with me."
The Lord never promised we would go through this life without pain. In fact the opposite is true. He said that in this life we would have tribulation. There is a quote that I can't find the author of: "God won't protect you through what He can perfect you through."
Some folks might interpret that to mean God causes accidents, illnesses, and family deaths. I don't.
That's not what it feels like to me. This is my concept. I don't think God will always step in and miraculously protect us from harm or prevent us from being hurt emotionally. Yes, He does sometimes.
Whatever you go through, He will go through with you. You might be hurt in an accident. You might get sicker than a dog on bad beans. You might lose your best friend. Whatever it is, remember He is there with you. He'll give you what you need to get through it--courage, perseverance, wisdom--when you need it. You only need to ask.
And when you are on the other side of the valley, you will be stronger. A better person. One who can help others. More in His image than before.
Prayer: Father, more than anything, we need perfecting. More than we need health, the most beloved of loved ones, or any treasure. Lord, we place ourselves in Your loving hands knowing You care far more than we are able to. That You will help us grow, no matter what happens in our lives. All that we are or have, we give to You in total trust that You know what You are doing. Thank You, Lord.
