This novella is definitely Christian Fiction, but I don't really know what genre it fits into. Nevertheless, it's an enjoyable tale of snow and babies and a dog and a boy. I especially smiled over one phrase describing the hero's seven-year-old son: "... and bucked around the house like a newly saddled stallion." Boy, did that bring back memories of my sons. Come to think of it, also of my daughter. My only complaint is that the book was too short. I fell in love with the family, the dog, and the eccentric old lady, and I wanted more! Still--it is enjoyable story-telling, so I'm giving it about 4.5 stars--which, of course, rounds up to five.
Ryan and his wife Penney live in a house that's too small. His mother and his aunt live there, and now Penney is pregnant. Where will they put the baby? His job at the factory barely supplies their needs, but it's becoming obvious they need a change.
He applies for -- and gets -- a caretaker job at a large estate in the mountains. It comes with a large, economy-size house, a large, economy-size dog (a Newfy), and a sweetly eccentric older lady (Miss Allison) who never leaves the mansion. Penney is to be the housekeeper, which is fine with her.
This is such an enjoyable read that I don't have any hesitation about recommending it to you. Good job, Linda Wood Rondeau!

I received a free copy of this book from the author, but my opinions are my own.
