Book Review--SUMMER SONG by Kathi Macias

This book is the eighth and last volume in the Summer in Sweetland series. The next review you will see here of the series will be of the entire group of stories combined into one book. The stories each have the some of the same characters and locations interwoven here and there.

Each Sweetland story had some people looking forward to the annual Labor Day picnic in the Sweetland City Park. Kathi's job was to tell a story that pulled the rest of them together, one taking place at that annual picnic.

Opal Barnett is an eighty-two-year-old woman traveling on her own, even knowing she must carry enough pills to open her own pharmacy, but wants to return to her old home one last time--or maybe for good. She's certainly not of any use to anyone any more. She stops in Sweetland for the Labor Day weekend, thanks to her cranky car.

Lacking anything better to do, she decides to go to the everywhere-advertised picnic in the park. And this is where the story becomes interesting--but you're going to have to buy the story to find out the end. Stop fretting. It's only 99 cents at Amazon!
