First Corinthians 13:5 - "[Charity] does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil.
Again, putting this into more modern vernacular: The word in Greek translated as "charity" is "agape" (pronounced a gap' py) is the word used for God's unconditional love for us. Therefore, this is my read on what this verse says: "Love doesn't act in a manner that would embarrass her friends, doesn't try to get her own way all the time, doesn't get mad over nothings, and doesn't think evil of her friends."
Disclaimer: I'm not a translator, just a God follower who has experienced this kind of love from God and from His other followers.
A person who loves God also does his or her level best to give out God's love to others. Not that we are infallible, that we always dish out love when it's needed, but we try. Yes, we fail on a regular basis, but we keep trying to love better next time.
What do you do? My thing is trying to get across to everyone that God loves to give them a chance. And a second chance when they mess up the first one. And a third, and a fourth....
Which chance are you on? How many chances do you give others?
Prayer: Lord, please help us, shallow imperfect creatures that we are, to hand out Your love in the same way You would. Help us to love without reservation, not try to get as much as to give, and to expect the best from everyone. Thank You, Lord.
