Deuteronomy 1:21 - “Look, the LORD your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the LORD God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged.”
Have you ever been in a place where the giants seem bigger than the promised land? Or are you there now?
Remember the story of Simon Peter getting out of the boat to walk to Jesus? As long as Peter kept his gaze on Jesus, he did a fine job of walking on water. Then he noticed the waves and the wind, and his focus changed. He fixated on the giants and would have drowned had Jesus not taken his hand.
You and I can find ourselves in the same boat—or out of the same boat. Afraid of the giants when we should be remembering the Lord knows how to conquer giants and waves and high winds.
Yet—we should also remember, Jesus stands with His hand out to catch us when we fall. There’s another verse in Micah 7:8, “Do not rejoice over me, my enemy [giants]; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.” Notice that it doesn’t say if I fall. The Lord knows we aren’t always strong or constantly focused on Him. He knows we occasionally fail. But we will rise again. The Lord said so.
Prayer: Lord, you know my weaknesses. You see me when I fall, and you reach your hand out to me to lift me up again. There are giants in my life that threaten me. Thank You for standing between me and the giants.
