Book Review: THE WILES OF WATERMELON by Lynette Sowell
This book is the last story of the Mystery, Murder and Mayhem Collection, Seven Deadly Mysteries by Best-Selling Sleuths. I'm not sure where you can get the entire collection--I'm not finding it under that name on Amazon or Barnes and Noble--but you can get the individual books from these places. (I didn't review the whole collection--only the inspirational ones. I review Christian books without sex scenes or more than very minor profanity.)
I love a good mystery, and this one is. A cold case and a new case might somehow be connected, and if it weren't for Andromeda (Andi) Hartley's persistence, her beloved hubby, Ben, could top the list of suspects.
Andi's kitten digs up a bone in the watermelon patch, and it doesn't take long to figure out it's human, not a squirrel or raccoon. Worse--it's Andi's Aunt Jewel, her mother's sister, a young woman everyone thought had run off with her boyfriend Bobby years before.
And then Honey, Ben's boss, chokes to death on a watermelon rind. Ben is the last person who saw her. Or was he? The young man Honey fired took it pretty hard, and now he's running. And Honey's long-time boyfriend, the one she always had such huge fights with?
But then if Aunt Jewel was buried in the watermelon patch, where's her boyfriend, Bobby? Where's the money from that old bank robbery that happened before she disappeared--they found some evidence in Honey's storeroom and in an old suitcase.
Tangle upon tangles, secret upon secrets--the makings of a dandy mystery! You can buy it at Amazon or Barnes and Noble,
