Whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, or of good report; if there be any virtue or praise, I will blog on these things. ~ Anne Baxter Campbell

Saturday Sermonette - What's New?
Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” Revelations 21:5
About this time of year, a lot of people decide they're going to make a new beginning at something: weight loss, exercise, stopping smoking, being nicer to Aunt Millie, paying off a loan, or whatever. Deciding to make a resolution is great. Carrying through is sometimes miraculous.
It takes a lot of will power (or won't power), and, I believe, a lot of prayer. I know it sounds astounding, but maybe God doesn't really care if you lose weight. Maybe he'd like you to concentrate more on being nicer to Aunt Millie. I don't really believe God is concerned about your manly or womanly figure. It's the inside that counts for a lot more.
That doesn't mean you should immediately run to the kitchen and get the last of those Christmas cookies, but maybe thinking a little more about your neighbor and a little less about yourself might come in handy. I know it would with me. So... Lord, this year, I resolve to be a little more helpful, a little less self-conscious, and a lot more prayerful. Beginning now with the Author of All Things New.
