Saturday Sermonette - Help from the Heart

Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. 1 Peter 5:2-4

Most of us give something somewhere that we didn't have to give, but sometimes we have that little feeling of being coerced into giving, or maybe a feeling superiority over the ones we give to. While I'm glad you chose to give for whatever reason, I really wish you could experience the joy that comes from giving without the expectation of getting anything back.

Remember that God charges us with taking care of the poor. It's more than a duty, it's a privilege. Remember, Jesus served. His entire life on earth was spent serving and giving. He's our example, and He wants us to be His example to people who might not know Him. What kind of example do we provide if we look down our noses at the ones we serve or give to?

The only view of Jesus some people have is through us. Be a shining view, okay?

Father, You have been so generous with us. Please help us return that generosity. Thank You. Amen
