Lynn Myers, recently widowed, now finds out her brother Myron has passed away, leaving her with a huge old house next to a graveyard and an old mystery. She and her just-graduated-from-college daughter Rachel set off for Bloomfield, the town where Lynn had been born and raised. A small town heavy in small-town activities and big-time gossiping. A week or two to settle the estate, and they should be able to leave there and go back to the home she'd had with her beloved husband.
She didn't care about this old mystery her brother had tried unsuccessfully to resolve. Really, $7.14? No one in town even seemed to remember the incident. Except Homer Tatum, deaf and hungry at the local retirement home; Jason, the scruffy, smelly, supposed caretaker living on Myron's property; and Miss Pearl, the last living member of the Justice siblings. Why bother?
And yet--It had been one of Myron's last wishes. And Rachel is interested--or maybe she just wants an excuse to stay in Bloomfield a little longer where two guys are vying for her attention.
