I'm not going to print out the entire parable here, but you can read it in Mark 12:1-9.
Jesus told a story about a wealthy man who owned a vineyard. He set a group of men over it to tend and harvest the grapes. Eventually, he sent a servant to see how things were going. The workers in the vineyard beat the servant and sent him away without anything. A second time the owner sent a servant, and this time they threw stones at the messenger. A third time and a fourth and another and another. Each time, the vineyard tenders wounded and killed the servants. Finally, the owner sent his own son, saying "Surely they will reverence my son." But no, the tenders killed the son and dumped him outside the vineyard.
Jesus then said to His listeners, "What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those
tenants and give the vineyard to others."
Why do you think He told the parable? Yes, He tried to warn them. Over and over again. And He told them the stone the builders rejected would become the Cornerstone.
Jesus is the Cornerstone. The builders--scribes and Pharisees and Sadducees--rejected Him. The vineyard tenders sought to destroy Him. Their efforts would not succeed, would they?
The day of triumph would come, but before that happened would be betrayal.
