Saturday Sermonette - Leftovers?

"And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, Is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, Is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably?” Says the Lord of hosts. Malachi 1:8, NKJV.

Nearly every meal has leftovers. What do you do with them? Eat them at the next meal? Throw them out? Serve them to guests?

Me? Eat them at the next meal, sometimes throw them out (if I didn't like them), but never serve them to guests--unless it's my family, in which case they expect it.

If I had guests, I would try to give them the best pieces of meat, the best of my vegetables and fruit, the tastiest dessert. Wouldn't you?

How often, then, do you give God the leftovers? Only read the Bible when you have extra time on your hands and can't think of anything else to do? At church give Him the spare change in your pocket? Limit your prayers to a "Goodnight, Lord," at the end of the day? Here you might find me slinking behind the couch to hide my red face. I'm guilty, sometimes.

We all have busy lives, but somehow we all find the time and money to do the things we really want to. I swear to put God first in my life and then put Him out of my mind while I do my own thing.

Lord, forgive me! You are my best friend, but I treat You like the ugly cousin sometimes. Please, tap me on the shoulder and remind me who You are. I do love You, but not enough. Teach me to love You more than myself. In Christ's name and for His glory I pray, amen.

Too true sometimes. (Although I personally like leftovers!)

I like them too, at least for a couple of days.
Still wouldn't serve them to the King of Kings! :D
