Book Review - WIDOW OF GETTYSBURG by Jocelyn Green (with giveaway)

Widow cover 3 125

An excellent and accurate depiction of life during the civil war. This wasn't a romantic war--wars never are--but sometimes love blooms on battlefields.

At nineteen years of age, Liberty Holloway is already a Yankee war widow. She wants to turn her large estate near Gettysburg into a traveler's inn. She has Bella, a hired black servant who works there part of the time and advises and comforts Liberty more like a mother than a servant.

Liberty hadn't counted on her home being confiscated as a Confederate rebels' hospital. Nor had she counted on becoming a nurse, forced to clean up after wounded and dying soldiers, asked to write their last letters home, or to assist a cranky surgeon as he went about his grizzly task. But this is war. It doesn't matter that her sympathies are with the North.

A wounded rebel, Silas Ford, comes to her rescue when other rebels threaten her. She doesn't remember him, but he remembers her, and he wants to protect her. Even if that means clashing with his fellow Confederates. But there's a problem. He loves her, but he can't marry her.

Widow of Gettysburg can be purchased from Amazon, Barnes and Nobel, and Christian Book Distributors.
