Author Interview: Lisa Buffaloe

Our interview today is with Lisa Buffaloe who has had three (count 'em, t-h-r-e-e) books release just this year. Wow. I'm impressed and blessed to have you join us today, on Thanksgiving. It seems appropriate.

Anne: Lisa, my first question is always the same, "What inspired Nadia's Hope?

Lisa: Nadia’s Hope began as a short story on forgiveness to give a friend. Once I thought I was finished, I prayed and felt led to keep writing. As I wrote, God gently unearthed memories from my past I had locked away. God took both Nadia and I on a journey to healing.

Anne: I love your characters--they are so real, it felt like they were speaking out loud. Do you pattern them from people you know or have met or combinations thereof?

Lisa: I’m so glad you loved the characters. J After thirty-four moves and numerous travels, finding characters comes easy. Some are patterned directly after sweet friends and others are based on a compilation of people.

Anne: Do you think any of your characters resemble your personality?

Lisa: Nadia and I have trauma in our pasts, however I was blessed to know God from an early age. Even though bad things happened, I knew God would help me through. Nadia was a compilation of people I’ve met along the way who shared their stories and their pain with me. I tried to be so careful to gently handle this story.

Anne: Why do you write?

Lisa: I love sharing God’s love with others, and sharing the amazing truth that through God we can be healed and restored regardless of the pain of our past. Fiction can be used as pure enjoyment, but I hope to weave a story that not only gives the reader a wonderful read but leave them with nuggets of God’s truth.

Anne: Do you have a set "writing time," or do you fit it in when you can find the time?

Lisa: Between blogging, writing, preparing for speaking events, and the Living Joyfully Free radio show, I’m usually on my computer writing from early morning until my sweet husband returns home from work.

Anne: Since this is Thanksgiving, can you tell us what part of your writing gives you the most reason to give thanks?

Lisa: Writing has given me opportunities to connect with so many amazing people along the way. Writer friends, online friends, blog readers, and various social sites have all been avenues to meet people through the written word.

Anne: Would you like to tell us a little about your next book?

Lisa: Prodigal Nights is the story of Nadia’s roommate, Bethany Davis, after college.

For two returning prodigals will the challenge to live “good” withstand the allure to be bad?

After a nasty divorce, Bethany Davis returned to college and lived up to the low standards set by gossips. Her dad’s stroke has now brought her home, and Bethany finds herself in a dilemma—how can she get beyond her past, learn to trust again, and live a “good” life?

Bethany’s father’s involvement in the defense industry adds excitement to her expectation of a boring life back home. However, bodyguards, stalkers, and international secrets are the least of her problems—opening her heart to trust again is a totally different matter. And the mutual attraction with her new team leader, Jason Ross, spells the possibility of big-time heart trouble.

Jason’s days of wild living are over, and he’s determined to prove to himself and God that he’s on the right path. When Bethany steps into his office, he sees the girl of his dreams, but is she God’s gift or Satan’s temptress?

I also have a light-hearted novella-- Grace for the Char-Baked, and some other projects (fiction and non-fiction) in the works.

Anne: I wanted to put Lisa's biography in here, but I can't do it justice. Instead, I'm asking you to go to this page: http://lisabuffaloe.com/about-lisa-buffaloe/

I promise, you won't be bored or disappointed.
