Monday Morning Devotional - What's on the Inside?

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16)

On FaceBook I get a lot of friend requests. Nine times out of ten, I can tell you just by looking at the picture whether they would be a good fit. There is something about the smile of a Christian that doesn't stop at the mouth. It goes all the way from the heart to the eyes.

There's a popular Christian song I love to listen to on the radio called We Are. The chorus says, "We are the light of the world, we are the city on a hill; we are the light of the world, we gotta, we gotta, we gotta let our light shine."

So true. Let the love of the Lord shine through your life, and God will get the credit. That's exactly what we want, right?

If it isn't, you need to talk to God about that.

Where do you hear this song? Same place you hear a lot of other life-building Christian music: The Message, K-Love, or other Christian music stations. Or listen to just this song on You Tube.

Prayer: Lord, teach us to shine. Teach us to be Your light. We want to be Your lamps on the paths that lead to You. We can't do it without Your wisdom and Your leading. We are so lost and so much in darkness without You, and so bright and beautiful with You lighting up our lives. Thank You, Lord.
